Tharu Village Cultural Walk

The Tharu Village Cultural Walk offers an intimate glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the indigenous Tharu people, who have lived in the forests of Chitwan for centuries. Often known as the “people of the forest,” the Tharu community developed a unique way of life closely connected to agriculture, rivers, and wildlife.

During this guided visit, guests walk through a living village composed of mud and reed houses, observe livestock and farming activities, and see traditional tools and clothing displayed in a local museum. Depending on the time of day, you may watch residents weaving baskets, tending crops, or preparing meals. Interaction is respectful and natural, allowing travelers to experience authentic Terai culture rather than a staged performance.

This experience is designed to complement the jungle safari by helping guests understand the human history of the region how people lived alongside wildlife long before conservation areas were established. The walk is relaxed, educational, and culturally immersive.
